I take pictures that tell a story; a facial expression, a season, a forced perspective, etc.
It’s always fun when my work gets used in the SF Chronicle. As a Bay Area native, growing up the pink section was always the favorite every weekend. The first time one of my photographs was selected for the Chronicle, I forgot to tell my mom. I promptly received a text message that weekend from her, overjoyed and so proud, and also in shock. She told me she had to reread the text to make sure that she had read it right. Then again, how many Beryl Bakers could there be in the Bay Area?
I’ve grown up in the Bay Area, and one of the best moments in the last year was getting a text from my mom, still also in the Bay Area, saying proudly, “Your photo is in the Chronicle.”
